How to Turn Disappointment into Triumph

Disappointment is a part of life. Change is stressful and when disappointment strikes whether in relationships, work or health, the stress increases. Because life is all about change-the part of yourself that wants everything to remain the same isn’t realistic.

Here are 7 proven steps to Turning Disappointment into Triumph:

1. Take Care of Yourself

Take walks and go out into nature. Seek the company of positive friends. Being good to yourself is important.

2. Define Success on your Terms

This is not a competition. Many people have their own definition of success. You decide and stick to it.

3. Find the Value in Failure

Winston Churchill once said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal it is the courage to continue that counts” .

4. Focus on the process-not the end result

It is easier to be mindful when you focus on action steps. This doesn’t mean you stop setting goals and measuring your progress toward them. Let each step find your sense of accomplishment.

5. Know that it is not about you

Sometimes there are things beyond our control that have nothing to do with us what we did or didn’t do.

6. Be Honest and Learn from your Mistakes

Sometimes we are in denial about our past mistakes. There is always a lesson to be learned and then move on.

7. Find Opportunities in Adversity

When we think differently, we might not get what we want but we are more open to go after what we need.

Today, I challenge you to use your setbacks as a set-up to push you forward. Let go of how you think life should happen and focus on the Disappointment as an Opportunity to propel you to the next level in life!
